As mentioned on the previous page during the semester, the class worked from a social networking platform known as NING. This was a good medium where all students participated in posting various replies to weekly readings and online discussions amongst themselves and the teacher. Ning was my first experience of posting a blog.

Below are two assessment tasks that involved comunication via the NING platform to discuss key aspects and any problems that had arise whilst undertaking the course.
Assessment Task 2
Assessment task 2 involved each student to complete and analyse a short online course with an approximate duration of four hours. The course I selected was a digital photography course though the course was lacking interaction with other learners. Cashion and Palmieri (2002) suggest that problems with technology and learner support are barriers to the effectiveness of e-learning. There had been an online forum created for learners undertaking this course however, the forum wasn’t been utilised. To overcome this problem I interacted with a fellow colleague who was undertaking the same course at the same time. Roper (2007) highlights that online connections promote a sense of being a learner among other learners. Working as a group provided a sense of security and inclusiveness which involved us in a process of collective learning also known as a community of practice.
Below is an analysis on the online course I completed which gave me an insight to the critical aspects that contribute to the effectiveness of an e-learning course.
This assessment involve four members of the class to each research and analyse a case study to present a presentation using a form of e-learning technology. Using my existing skills with PowerPoint, I created the presentation below in conjuction with the technology of Screencast and Jing which was then uploaded onto a Wiki. Communication amonst each other to complete this task was also conducted via the ning platform. http://www.screencast.com/ http://www.techsmith.com/jing.html http://unifiedelearning.wikispaces.com/Home+page+1
